The Skyward Journey of a Courageous Chicken
Defying Gravity with Determination.
Clara has always dreamed of soaring through the skies. Every year, she watches in awe as the geese migrate across her farm, and every spring, she marvels at the songbirds returning to teach their young to fly. "Chickens don't fly," her friends would scold, but this never seemed like a good enough reason to Clara.
Determined to prove she has what it takes, Clara has spent months practicing her aerial skills. She'd climb to the highest branch of the tallest oak and leap off, wings spread wide. She'd run and take off, each time staying in the air just a little longer.
Now, the moment has arrived— today is the day of Clara's heroic flight!

For this painting, I was tasked to create a scene inspired by the words “Flight” and “Shame”. I wanted to flip the narrative and create a piece about challenging yourself. I was inspired to play with the idea of a chicken conquering it’s shame of not being able to fly.
